At the end September 2021, during the yearly Funnel Hacking Live event, ClickFunnels announced ClickFunnels 2.0: the next generation of the popular funnel building software!
We don’t know too much at this stage, but there are many clues we’ve gathered to paint a picture of where ClickFunnels is heading and what it means for course creators.
The beta of this new update will be rolling out in January 2022 and the official launch in March 2022.
Let’s break it down:
Funnel hub, Blog Builder… ClickFunnels becomes an all-in-one
In our ClickFunnels review and comparisons with other competitors in the industry, we show that ClickFunnels has always been more of a funnel building platform than a real all-in-one platform.
It looks like ClickFunnels 2.0 is about to change this!
With a lot of popular platforms coming up with their own course builder over the past months (SamCart, ThriveCart, Thrive Themes to name a few), ClickFunnels needed to make a move.
This is a trend in the industry now, with the mass of users desiring to have all of the tools they need under the same hood.
Here are a few things this ClickFunnels 2.0 will bring, some of these are just improvements on current features, some others are brand new.
Funnel Hub, Blogging & eCommerce
The way funnel management currently works with ClickFunnels isn’t ideal…
But with this new Funnel Hub update, the platform is moving away from what it has been promoting for 10 years and the website vs funnel debate.
This Funnel Hub actually helps its user create a proper website including a new Blog feature, very much needed for most online businesses:
This is another proof of ClickFunnels wanting to capture the attention of a broader audience that has moved online in mass over the past year.
Coupled with the new Universal Elements this new update brings, allowing you to create across-the-site blocks like headers and footers, ClickFunnels is competing directly with the big website builders like WordPress, Wix, SquareSpace and the like.
In the same fashion, the addition of a proper eCommerce feature is sure to satisfy a big part of the online industry!
This will allow ClickFunnels users to create a store with Add To Cart features and everything you’d need to sell physical products easier.
Again, this is a blow directed at popular eCommerce platforms like Shopify, Woocommerce, Magento, etc.
On top of that, ClickFunnels claims to have a much faster site speed than all of its competitors with this new version of the platform.
New Automation Workflow, CRM & Email Builder
To become a proper all-in-one platform, ClickFunnels understood that they also needed to offer all the bells and whistles of an email marketing and CRM system.
The new visual automation builder shapes this into reality, reminding us of popular email marketing platforms like Active Campaign or ConvertKit.
You’ll now be able to visually build your workflow with if/then branches, conditional logic, goals, user notes and everything else in-between!
This is a huge improvement both from a feature perspective and a user experience standpoint.
This kind of visual builder has become industry standard and ClickFunnels 2.0 will align itself with the new expectations users have for a high-end email marketing and automation system.
The new visual email builder also aims making your life easy when creating new email campaigns, with an easy drag & drop interface:
This is again something that’s been implemented by several competitors in the past years to make this as easy as possible (e.g. Kajabi, Kartra, System.io,etc.).
Even if the fancier emails are proven to not necessarily perform better than plain text ones, this new design will be much appreciated by eCommerce businesses.
And finally, much like popular CRM and sales softwares, ClickFunnels 2.0 will have a cool sales pipelines kanban-like builder to help you manage your leads:
This is very helpful for coaches and service providers for whom bigger deals go through several stages before closing.
Again here, the platform is expanding to a broader audience, not only interested in building a fancy digital product funnel, but also more traditional online services and products.
New Course Builder
And the last big feature we wanted to highlight in this ClickFunnels 2.0 early sneak peek, is the totally redesigned online course creation experience.
Let’s be honest, and we’ve highlighted this in our in-depth review of the platform, but the current “membership site” feature of ClickFunnels is not great…
And with so many choices for online course creators to host their programs now, the company needed to up their game!
Enter, the brand new course builder:
We don’t know much about it yet and it feels like it still won’t be the most advanced tool in the industry, but it’s still a great improvement!
At least, it will tip the balance for most course creators who are currently hooking up their ClickFunnels checkout with something like Teachable, just to offer a decent course experience to their students.
We can surely say that if this new ClickFunnels 2.0 course builder has a decent amount of learning tools like quizzes, assessments and maybe facilitating coaching programs, this will be a big hit.
What Should You Do About ClickFunnels 2.0
Overall then, this new update is very promising to say the least and should definitely convince quite a few people to either cancel everything else but their ClickFunnels account, or move away from other all-in-one platforms.
A caveat however, which has not been announced by the company but is almost certain to arrive:
All of these new features and cool tools will probably come with a price increase.
If anything, it’s hard to imagine that all of this will be available on the entry level $97/mo plan…
I anticipate the funnel building elements to stay there and the new fancy stuff to be only for the Platinum plan ($297/mo) and above!
Although this can still be a great investment, this may be a little steep for most beginner course creators…
We’ll update this article as more information is released, but you can already start playing around with ClickFunnels as it is now with a 14-day trial!
