What is CheckoutJoy?
CheckoutJoy is a third party checkout system that enables a customized experience and more flexibility.
It can work and be integrated with popular platforms like Kajabi, Thinkific and Kartra or on its own with self-hosted checkout pages.
One of its main uses is for people to overcome some limitations of the platforms they’re using or implement more advanced options like extra payment gateways, more currencies or sales tax calculation.
Features: What can you do with CheckoutJoy?
There’s a few things to unpack to help you understand whether CheckoutJoy would be a good fit for you!
In this review, we’ll compare the platform to close competitors like ThriveCart, SamCart or SendOwl
Here is a summary of the feature you’ll get with CheckoutJoy:
Let’s dig deeper and breakdown some of these features to better compare them to other similar platforms.
Multiples Currencies & Payment Gateway
By using a simple code snippet, CheckoutJoy allows you to add a ton more payment gateways to your Kajabi checkout.
The following are currently supported: Adyen, FlutterWave, GoCardless, Instamojo, Klarna, Midtrans, Mollie, PayFast, PayPal, Paystack, Razorpay, Stripe, Xendit.
This gives you much more options than most other checkout systems and should cover virtually every country your student might be in.
The great thing about it too is that the process will be seamless for your customer: they will be granted access to the products and member’s area, without the need to use Zapier.
That last part is something to highlight: almost all of CheckoutJoy’s competitors (named before) require the use of a Zapier account, which comes at a cost and extra headaches…
The ability to auto-convert currency to your student’s location is also available:
Again this is easy to set up in a few clicks inside your CheckoutJoy account, and will be seamless on the front-end.
Self Hosted Checkout
If you’re wanting more flexibility with the design of your checkout pages, you can use CheckoutJoy’s self hosted checkout.
A lot of users of platforms like Kajabi and Thinkific for example, are frustrated by the lack of design options when it comes to their checkout.
By using CheckoutJoy’s drag & drop checkout builder, you can overcome these shortcomings.
Starting from beautifully designed templates and sections, you can easily assemble a conversion-optimized page that fits your brand.
Other advantages of using these self-hosted pages is unlocking certain features like the affiliate program, multiple currencies, upsells, sales taxes and a lot more.
The affiliate program feature is only accessible for self-hosted CheckoutJoy, which also means that you’ll be on the Pro account.
This feature doesn’t really add more options than if you were using the native affiliate program platform like Kajabi offer, but it will bridge the gap with your new CheckoutJoy setup.
You’ll be able to set up affiliate links, enable affiliates to see their analytics and manage payout and commission from your dashboard.
Let’s make note here of other notable features CheckoutJoy will unlock.
The main one being the possibility to integrate your checkout with Quaderno and automatically calculate and handle your sales tax.
This is definitely a shortcoming of platforms like Kajabi, Thinkific and Kartra and can turn into a bit of an accounting nightmare…
It is a fairly standard feature for this kind of external checkout platform but Quaderno does a good job at making this easy.
Note: this is only for self-hosted checkout.
Lastly, you will have access to a Report tool to better analyze and keep track of transactions.
Although this kind of Analytics usually exists in the native platforms directly, this dashboard is an easy way to aggregate everything.
User Experience: Is CheckoutJoy easy to use?
Despite the fact that this is an advanced tool, CheckoutJoy has a pretty sleek look and user experience.
The design of the platform is very easy on the eye and intuitive.
Most of the features are also easy to pick up such as the page builder or the process to create a new Product.
We do regret the lack of depth of the articles in the official documentation of the tool which may be a roadblock for some users.
How Much Is CheckoutJoy?
CheckoutJoy’s pricing is very straightforward and standard for a checkout system:
If you’re just needing to add more payment gateways and other smaller features, you can use the Basic plan at $29/mo.
If you want to unlock the full features we’ve reviewed in this article, including the self-hosted checkout pages, you’ll need to upgrade to the Pro plan at $46/mo.
You can get started on either plan with a 7-day free trial.
This pricing range is fairly aligned to other competitors: ThriveCart is a one-time purchase for ~$700 and SamCart starts at $39/mo.
One note for Thinkific: an additional 0.5% transaction fee is charged per sale when using the CheckoutJoy Thinkific App.
How is CheckoutJoy Community & Support?
CheckoutJoy is a relatively new platform and is still building a community around their brand.
There isn’t much of a private group you can join to meet other users but that’s most likely not something you’ll be looking for here anyway.
On the support side, there is an instant chat system to contact their team and help you out.
We tested it and got a very fast reply during business hours 🙂
This should be more than enough to help you get setup and troubleshoot any issue that may arise.
Our Overall Rate: 44
Community & Support Rating:
CheckoutJoy is a very promising checkout addon filling a much needed gap in the market!
Users of platforms like Kajabi, Thinkific and Kartra will be able to take their cart to the next level and increase their sales.
Still in its early days, the company seems to be developing rapidly and expanding its currently limited roaster of platforms it integrates with.
You can get started today and take your checkout to the next level with a 7 days free trial!
