What is TalentLMS?
TalentLMS is a SaaS platform for online courses and business training programs.
It’s geared mostly for businesses and corporate training, whether that’s for internal education or between branches.
TalentLMS has been used by over 70,000 businesses according to their website with big names such as LVMH, Meta, Amazon, eBay, Unilever and many more.
It makes it very easy to customize training programs online and follow the progress of different groups of employees for instance.
We’ll break down exactly how this works and how it compares to other LMS platforms.
Features: What Can You Do With TalentLMS?
A quick note in case you were wondering, TalentLMS is not a WordPress LMS plugin. It’s a standalone SaaS platform.
It focuses mostly on helping companies put together training programs with an extensive set of features:
- Online program building
- Unlimited storage (video size limit is 100MB)
- Advanced learning tools
- Automation and Drip
- Certificate of completion
- Branches for creating sub-accounts
- Payment & checkout
- Mobile app
Again these features are very much focused on the online program side of things and not on marketing or funnel/page building.
Courses & Design
This is where TalentLMS shines for its target audience which is corporations.
You can start by creating different categories of programs to keep things organized, but also different levels.
On top of that, each course can have a capacity limit you set, pre-requisites or a time limit.
The only thing you can change is the theme color…
Beyond the teaching content you can deliver in a video, presentation or text format, there are a lot of learning tools available in TalentLMS.
Assignments are your opportunity to ask questions and give some homework to the user, with the possibility for example to only validate the unit when the answer has been accepted.
Answers can be text based, a file upload, a video, audio or screen recording:
There is no quiz feature in TalentLMS however, although you could get creative with the Assignment feature and get around that.
Another unit type that can be important for a lot of companies is the SCORM, xAPI, or cmi5 files upload.
The next facet of creating learning experiences in the platform are the learning paths you can create.
As we mentioned before each course can have a specific level, time limit, capacity.
But also specific completion rules or requirements:
This has a lot of synergy with the different Gamification features TalentLMS offers.
Points, Badges, Level, Leaderboard but also discount.
Each activity can grant the user points, or course unit or learning completion can grant badges.
These will build up the user’s Level which will increase their score on the Leaderboard.
You can even unlock discounts on future courses depending on how many points the user gets.
Finally, you can automatically generate a certificate of completion for all students at the end of a course.
These aren’t fully customizable but you can pick different styles and colors as well as the duration for the validity of that certificate.
Groups & Branch Management
For each student that’s taking one of your program in TalentLMS, you can see a full progress report and profile.
This can be exported in an Excel format or even displayed in an infographic.
There is a Timeline to see all of the users activity in the course, their certifications, badges and points.
That way you can easily keep track of all students.
To further help companies to use the platform as a Training Center, you can create Groups.
These are meant to allow you to assign sets of courses to several users at once, so for example a whole department of your business.
You then get a separate panel to assign courses to that group, add users to it and add files.
If you want to go even further in the categorizations and customization, you can create Branches.
These are meant to be used for different companies or locations for instance.
You’ll be able to access a completely separate dashboard with separate data and settings for that Branch.
This allows among other things to protect sensitive data and information.
In terms of communication with users, you can send email to a group of people or message them directly using the native messaging system.
Here are a few other features worth highlighting that you’ll find in TalentLMS
Mobile app: This is available on all plans and allows your users to take advantage of your training on the go and offline. Available on both iOS and Android.
Payment: You can allow self-registration with or without a price by connecting Stripe or Paypal to process payment and give relevant course access.
Security: This is important for businesses and there are advanced security settings available:
Pricing: How Much Is TalentLMS?
TalentLMS pricing is rather complex and depends mostly on your number of active users.
You can also get started with the free plan which will work up until 5 users and for 10 courses.
The first paid plan allows for unlimited courses and up to 40 users.
You also get SSO capabilities from Basic plan onwards but every upgrade after is mostly to increase the user limit.
You can also opt for an Active plan, which simply means that instead of paying for the number of users in your database you’ll pay based on how many users actually stay active.
Again this is not the most self-explanatory way of pricing a SaaS platform which also makes it hard to compare to others…
That being said the overall pricing for a B2B LMS TalentLMS offers is relatively fair.
How is the Support & Community for TalentLMS?
As a business trying to understand a new platform such as TalentLMS, getting appropriate support is important.
In the platform, this will very much depend on your pricing plan.
All accounts will have access to the Knowledge Base and videos to start navigating the platform on your own.
Everyone can also create a support ticket.
If you need more or faster replies, you can upgrade to the Premium plan to get access to live chat support.
On that plan, you’ll also get assigned an Account Managers to help you in your journey on TalentLMS.
Our Overall Rate: 8/10
Community & Support Rating:
TalentLMS has a lot to offer for corporate users that don’t quite find a good fit in other popular online course platforms, more adapted to small businesses.
The learning tools and versatility suite is impressive, although we would’ve wanted to see more flexibility on the design end.
That being said, the platform is relatively fairly priced and you can even get started on the free plan to give it a test drive.
